Had to drop off a board with my shaper who happened to be at Launiupoko Beach Park. I learn to surf there but rarely surf there anymore but the waves looked fun so I grabbed my longboard. The wave is actually really fun but there are so many kooks in the wate. Some guy dropped in on me and then fell off, his board hit me in my leg and left a big bruise :(

Small waves, when I first paddled out I was the only one out and then a few guys showed up, got out anf then Sierra and Sophi showed up and we paddled out. Our mom's paddled out too.

Bio: My name is Aloha Lopez. I live on the Westside of Maui. I have been surfing since I was three years old. My parents both surf. We moved away from Maui for a few years and were liv... More Bio: My name is Aloha Lopez. I live on the Westside of Maui. I have been surfing since I was three years old. My parents both surf. We moved away from Maui for a few years and were living in Occidental, California. I did not surf much over that four year period except for an occassional longboard session in Bolinas. Thankfully, we moved back to Maui in July 2009. Since returning, I have surfed almost everyday.

I love free surfing and competitive surfing. I started competing in 2010, I usually make the finals. I surf in as many divisions as I am allowed. Usually, that means Open Women, Jr Women and Longboarding. Last year, I was usually placing in 5th and 6th. I went to HASA State Championships at Ala Moana in Oahu. I did not make the finals but it was a good experience and I got to compete against girls from the other islands.

This year I have moved up and have placed in the top three most of the time. I won my first 1st place at the S-Turns Contest in Girls Longboard. I am hoping to win a few more 1st place trophies this year and make it to HASA State Finals again in May.

My mom tells me that practice is important if I want to be a professional surfer and supports my daily surfing. I ususally surf with my brother Pasion. My home breaks are Honolua Bay the winter and the Lahaina Harbor in the summer. I have three surfboards. I share a 9 foot longboard with my brother, it is really beat up and has had more ding repair than a board should ever have...I am pretty sure this will be its last year as we both surf it hard. I have my 5'7" watermelon surfboard shaped by K-Land, I bought it at a garage sale for $50. This was a great starter board and has been ridden by Alisha Yamada and Shawna Norris both great surfer girls here in Maui. Finally, I recently picked up 5'3" Lost surfboard which I love. I am hoping to get another Lost shortfboard soon ... as well as a longboard.

Currently, I am sponsored by Pakaloha Bikinis, which is awesome. I would like to pick up a sponsor or a few sponsors that would cover surfboards, leashes, deck pads, wax, clothing, sunscreen, contest, food and travel fees.

My goals are to do well in HSA and to compete in NSSA next year but need to I find a sponsor to cover the cost.

Style: My surf style is aggressive but smooth. I am a laid back island girl but can can have a edgy city look.
