I had an awesome time at the Sea Otter Classic a couple of weeks ago. I always look forward to Sea Otter, especially this year because I got to race pro dual slalom which is always stacked. I had a couple relaxing days of practice on Thursday and Friday. This year I was lucky enough to race the new Specialized EnduroSX which was an awesome bike for both tracks. Dual Slalom started on Saturday with practice early in the morning. I knew practice was going to be crucial since qualifying was also that morning, and even qualifying wouldn't be easy at this race. I put down two smooth runs and surprised myself by qualifying 5th! Finals went well also, I made it past the first two rounds and beat Gee Atherton who I have looked up to for years. In the round of 8, Cam Cole got the best of me but I was pretty pleased to end up 6th. Downhill the next day went really well. I raced Jr Expert and ended up taking the win with my brother right behind me! I had a smooth run and pedaled as hard as I could. I also would have ended up 35th in pro, which I was pretty happy with seeing that the times were so tight. All in all Sea Otter was a huge success and I had a blast. I am home now and getting ready for a couple Pro GRT's on the east coast. Should be fun times!
