Monster Army

Athlete of the Week: Taylor Oxford

Author: Tim Remick

Hi Taylor! How has your year been treating you?

This year has started off great. I started off the season with a win in the first cable stop of the Georgia Wake Series. I’m excited to see where the rest of the season takes me.

So let’s start with last season with your 2nd place at US Nationals. How did that go?

I went through a 7 weeks qualifying series to make it to Nationals and pulled off a 2nd place finish and qualified for Worlds. The level of riding was insane and I was stoked to come away with a podium finish!

Then you followed that up with a WIN at WWA Wake Park World Championships. How awesome was that?

Worlds was amazing. It’s been a dream of mine to become the World Champion and I made it come true at CWC in the Philippines!

You then ventured to the Philippines where you trained at CWC for two and a half months. How valuable was your time there?

The Philippines was amazing. I lived at CWC Wakepark for 2.5 months and got to ride everyday. I met a ton of riders from all over the world and learned a lot of new tricks. I'm stoked to throw them down in contest this year.

You recently competed at Nautique WWA Wakepark National Championships!  How did that event turn out for you?"

The Nautique WWA Wakepark National Championship was an insane event as always. There was so many ladies riding from all over the country who put the pressure on me all weekend long. However, I'm stoked that I landed in the top at the end of the weekend.

Favorite tunes to jam to while wakeboarding or chilling between pulls?

I love country music so I'm always jamming to country while I ride and while mudding in my Jeep.

AWESOME! Thank you, Taylor! Any last shout-outs you would like to make before you go?

I would like to thank Monster Army for having me as Athlete of the Week and their continued support. I would also like to thank Liquid Force, Heat Swimwear, Sun Bum, Peppers Eyewear, Elevated Clothing and my Mom and Dad for helping me get through the season. One last shout out to all the girls out there killing it in extreme sports. Keep shredding!!!
