Monster Army "Major" Chris Corning was recently named the FIS World Cup Overall Slopestyle Champion at the last event that took place in Spindleruv Mlyn, Czech Republic. The young 16 year old from Colorado took home a second place finish at this event and with that secured the overall title.
We had a chance to get a check in with Chris and this is what he had to say about his experience: "I had an amazing chance to get to head over the pond and compete in the Czech Republic. I ended up riding really well and feeling confident coming into the Audi Snowjam. They were taking the top 3 spots straight to qualifying from each heat and then taking the next spot from each heat to semi-finals. I really wanted to make it straight to finals. I was able to land both of my runs and just barely snuck into the 3rd position at the end of my heat. Then finals rolled around and I landed all 3 three runs. I got my best score on my last run which was front 450 into the bank, to cab 180, to the rail back 540 out. Cab blunt up the cannon to 450 out, and the back 270 270 out on the down rail, ending with a switch back 1260 on the jump.
I had a lot of fun at this contest. Well for that matter I should say all the contests. I feel so blessed to have the support to push me to the next level which in turn gives me some amazing opportunities thanks to the Monster Army. Getting the overall title is an amazing feeling and it still has not sunk all the way in. I can't wait for the next competition to keep the mojo rolling. Thanks Monster Army for the support and helping me push myself to the next level.” -Chris Corning
