Domination at Fontana Winter Series #3 - Recap

Author: Tim Remick

Energy was high and conditions were Prime for a good weekend of racing to compliment the big game.  The course had its challenges, with rocky loose corners and steep techincal sections that are all to fitting to fontana's reputation for course selection.  Athletes were gunning for the top spot and staying pinned through the chunder to put down solid times.

In the Pro Class, Captain Bruce Klein continued his dominance with another Win, followed up by Major Cole Picchiotino, who has been training hard in Super D building his endurance & strength to stay sharp for the upcoming worldcup & ProGRT season.  Private Jarod Hanson finished in 6th and Blake Motley in 9th.

In the Juniors (18 & under) class, Steven Walton stood on the podium after a close battle with fellow rider and friend Trevor Boldi, who had a spill towards the top that put him slightly of pace for a win.   However, Steven's time would have landed him in 3rd in the Pro Class, to put that in perspective.  Travis Claypool finished out the podium in 3rd position, Followed by Dante Silva in 6th & Drake Barron in  8th.  The Juniors are always a fast bunch and sometimes go harder than the Pros which makes for exciting racing, trying to prove their worth and ability to compete against the top guys.

Lastly, our Groms stayed consistent and repeated their podium appearances, throwing down solid runs that would land Kaden Pankow in 1st and Nate Luna in 3rd, followed by Ryan McGarrity finishing 6th on the day.  Every race is a positive learning experience for these young guns and they look to be top contenders in the 18&under class, eventually.
