Kaden Pankow is Athlete of the Week

Author: Tim Remick

Whats up, Kaden?! How has your 2017 season been treating you?

2017 has been going awesome so far. I have been having a lot of fun on my bike at the races and locally with friends.

So how did you first get started in Mountain biking?

I started racing bmx at age 5 with some friends, and one of my friends who I rode with left bmx to go try racing downhill. I made one trip to Fontana to check out the racing and I was hooked.

Sweeping the podium at all the Fontana winter series races as well as a win and 2nd place at the Sea Otter Classic.  Looks like your training and practice is paying off big time, huh?

Yes training works! I've been fully committed to MTB this year and put in some hours this off-season. I'm stoked to keep charging all year long!

What are some races/travel plans you have lined up for the rest of the season?

In a couple weeks I will be racing the Angelfire progrt, then I'm making my first trip to Whistler for a week of riding with some friends. After that I'm home for a week then going to fly to West Virginia to compete in Dual Slalom and Downhill for USAC National Champs.

Which discipline of racing do you prefer more? Downhill or Dual Slalom?

I prefer Downhill more, less pedaling! But the race vibe and head to head completion for DS is unlike anything else.

Your Favorite Tunes to listen to on race day would be…..
Anything with a good beat to get me pumped up.

AWESOME, Kaden! Thank you for stopping by and chatting with us! Any shoutouts you want to make before you go?

Yes, I would like to thank my parents for fully supporting my riding as well as my sponsors: @chainlinebikes, @ride100percent, @Intensecycles, @dvosuspension, @ergonbike, @rynopower, @htccomponents, And of course @Monsterarmy
