Monster Handles Hangtown!

Blake Baggett - 2nd Place (Moto 1 - 3rd / Moto 2 – 2nd)
Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki's Blake Baggett came from out of no where with an uncharacteristic first moto holeshot getting to an early lead beginning his title defense the right way, in the front of the pack. Baggett remained strong motoring on to third place at the end of moto one doing so with his wrist not at 100 percent. After showing amazing speed in the opening moto at Hangtown, Blake again took over an early lead on his Monster Energy backed Kawasaki followed by a great battle with eventual winner Ken Roczen. Baggett remained persistent all moto long, latching on the the back fender of Roczen's KTM and putting in a great late moto charge. A small mistake allowed Ken to inch away to the win however Baggett held steady in second place good enough to bump him into second place overall, an excellent start to defending his 2012 national championship.
Tyla Rattray – 9th Place (Moto 1 - 9th / Moto 2 - 9th)
Making a move up to the 450 class, Tyla Rattray is back aboard a Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki, this time on the big bike. Rattray's decision to compete on the 450 in Motocross appeared to be a good move, running inside of the top ten of the extremely talented premier Motocross class showing amazing speed along the way. Rattray's consistency throughout the weekend paid dividends earning himself a great finish when all was said and done. Tyla's pair of ninth place moto scores were ironically good enough to put him in the ninth position overall for the day. The top ten finish with all of the talent healthy and on the gate is certainly not a bad start to the long and treacherous outdoor series for Tyla and the Monster Energy PC squad as they continue to venture further into their 450 class efforts.
Jake Weimer – 13th Place (Moto 1 - 7th / Moto 2 - 24th)
Monster Energy Kawasaki's Jake Weimer began the 2013 Pro Motocross Series in very encouraging fashion. Weimer managed to get a decent start in moto one putting himself in the position to capitalize and work through the pack. Weimer made his way up to the seventh place spot, finishing moto one just behind the battle for fifth of Justin Barcia and Andrew Short. After an extremely solid first moto performance, Jake's overall was unfortunately effected after the second moto came to a close. Despite a few mistakes in the second moto, Weimer looked very impressive aboard his Monster Energy Kawasaki ride still managing to land himself in the thirteenth overall spot for the weekend at Hangtown in the 450 class.
Dean Wilson – 14th Place (Moto 1 - 14th / Moto 2 - 14th)
Also making the transition to the deep pool of 450 competitors is Monster Energy Pro Circuit's Dean Wilson. Deano is back on the bike and on the move shredding his way to a solid fourteenth overall at round one of the AMA Pro Motocross Series at Hangtown. Wilson looked great early on, battling near the top five of the blazing fast 450 pack before unfortunately stalling in a corner amidst an intense battle with other 450 new comer Malcolm Stewart. Wilson rallied his way back to fourteenth place in moto one still remaining inside of the top fifteen, an accomplishment in itself due to the amount of riders with the potential to win this year. Wilson repeated his first moto finish with another fourteenth in moto two in turn securing the fourteenth overall position for the day at Hangtown laying the foundation for the rest of his 2013 race season.
Chad Reed – 15th Place (Moto 1 - 10th / Moto 2 - 38th)
Two-Two Motorsports/ Monster Energy backed Chad Reed was in attendance at Hangtown for the beginning of the 2013 Pro Motocross Series. Fresh off of a long Supercross season, Reed was out mixing it up battling to reach the top of the 450 class once again as racing got underway in Sacramento. During moto one, Reed pushed his way through the pack to secure tenth place heading into moto two. Moto two unfortunately didn't end the same for Reed as his finish in the second and final moto of the day didn't go as he would've liked. Depsite the unfortunate result, Reed still finished inside of the top twenty with fifteenth overall. With many races to go, once Monster Energy's Chad Reed get's everything dialed in expect him to be back up front as usual pushing the limits battling to add more moto wins to his record.
Justin Hill – 10th Place (Moto 1 - 13th / Moto - 2 - 9th)
Justin Hill looked very impressive during his first full season on the outdoor circuit. Hill's tenth place overall finish was a very successful end result and a great base for his 2013 race effort. Hill worked his way from way back in moto one to capture 13-9 moto finishes which were good enough to slide him into the tenth overall spot for the weekend in the stacked 250 Pro Motocross series. Hill has been on fire while preparing for outdoors and his hard work has translated directly in his results. The future certainly looks bright for the new PC recruit.
Darryn Durham – 14th Place (Moto 1 - 6th / Moto 2 - 36th)
Back from injury and ready to set the track on fire is Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki's Darryn Durham. Durham came out swinging in moto one of the 250 Pro class at Hangtown putting the #44 Monster backed Kawasaki out front early on. Durham maintained great speed all moto long, ending the moto in an intense battle with Cooper Webb. Durham managed to hold off the charge for some time however Webb would get around him right at the end. Durham's sixth place in moto one was a great return and a very solid starting result for the 2013 season after a rough go lately. After working his way back to the front of the pack, Durham was taken out in a crash on lap three, taking him out of contention for the day settling for fourteenth overall. After proving his speed early on in each moto, you can bet Monster Energy's Durham will be back and ready to battle this weekend at Thunder Valley.
Dillan Epstein – 16th Place (Moto 1 - 11th / Moto 2 - 23rd)
Dillan Epstein is a promising rookie who came on to the scene last year for the final two rounds of the outdoor series after a very promising amateur career for Monster Energy Team Green Kawasaki. Now riding for Team JNA / MadJack / B&I Racing, Epstein was able to post an impressive 11th place finish in the first moto. After resolving a couple bike adjustment issues, Epstein was battling through the pack and on to what looked like a stronger finish. He managed to still finish 23rd in moto two good enough for a 16th overall on the day. He was super positive and optimistic going into next weekend knowing he’s got the fitness and speed to ride up front.
Martin Davalos – 17th Place (Moto 1 - 38th / Moto 2 - 12th)
Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki's Martin Davalos was hit with a bit of misfortune in the opening 250 Pro class moto at Hangtown. Davalos was the victim of a violent get-off early on during moto one. Martin was unable to finish the moto however he came out in moto two ready to battle. Martin worked his way back into the top fifteen with a twelfth place finish to salvage 17th overall for the day. Considering his crash in moto one, Davalos escaped the weekend relatively unscathed and will be back more ready than ever next week in Colorado.
