Author: Robby Burleson

13 Monster Army Snowboard and Ski athletes were invited and competed at the US Grand Prix in Mammoth Lakes, CA this past week. All six snowboard athletes made the finals in their respected disciplines of halfpipe or slopestyle. Snowboard "Major" Hailee Mattingley had the best result out of the group, coming in a well deserved 5th place.

Coming in 6th right behind Hailee was "Major" Kirra Kotsenburg.

Rounding out the girls who made finals in slopestyle is brand new "Captain" Jullianne O'Neill. She had the most impressive run on the rails out of all the girls, but unfortunately couldn't put the jump line together to get the results she wanted. She was also the only girl to hit the up stair rail feature on the course.

Next up in the men's finals where the young 16 year old Chris Corning took home 8th place. Chris has been turning heads all season and we expect big things out of him the rest of the year.

In some tough conditions "Captain" Zoe Kalapos was able to grab 7th place in the women's halfpipe final and "Sergeant" Rakai Tait ended up in 11th in men's halfpipe to round out the snowboarding competition.

The young 15 year old "Captain" Jaxin Hoerter ended up taking 17th place in a stacked men's halfpipe competition and "Captain" Abigale Hansen took 16th position in the women's ski halfpipe. The conditions were tough with high winds and low visibility and right behind  Abigale was "Sergeant" Sierra Bowman rounding out the ski halfpipe.

The ski slopestyle was an interesting day where many of the athletes didn't pull their runs exactly how they wanted. "Major" Alex Hall and "Captain" Freddy Brideweser didn't put their runs together, but still ended the day with plenty of fuel to feed them going into the Rev Tour that is happening now. "Captain" Caroline Claire finished her day two spots away from making finals in 10th position in the women's slopestyle event. "Major" Birk Irving was absent this week due to an injury he sustained during practice. Look for him to come back strong at the next event!
