The Monster Army crew headed to the Mountain Creek Bike Park
in Vernon, New Jersey for the 3rd round of the Downhill National
series. The rockiest course we’ve seen this year became even more rowdy when
the rain began to come down. Titus Nicholson smashes through some rocks on a
practice run.
Nik Nestoroff went off 9th fastest in qualifying, showing some great speed for the 1st year pro.
Zach Gareis has been having a breakout year, staying on pace
in qualifying, only 6 seconds back.
California boys, Dante Silva, Steve Walton, & Nik
Nestoroff take some time to chat about the course before finals.
It’s been a muddy season for Dante Silva, who rarely sees
mud or even rain in Southern California. It didn’t slow him down as he would
better his qualifying time to take 3rd in the Junior Expert Category
East coasters, David Kahn, Zach Gareis, and Titus Nicholson get their game faces ready as the fog rolled in.
David Kahn sitting in the starting gate visualizing how it’s
all about to go down.
David generating speed on track, he would pull off a 6th
place in Junior Experts.
Zach Gareis gets a little sideways on the first jump of the
course. Zach rode hard but came up just shy of the podium in 4th
place for the Junior Experts.
Matt Driscoll was smooth all weekend, cruising through the rocks
to a 5th place finish in Juniors.
Titus Nicholson rallied his home mountain into 2nd
place, just .22 seconds off the win.
In the pro category, Steve Walton would impress the crowd
but found himself a little off the pace with a 27th place finish for
the 1st year pro.
Nik Nestoroff skims over the whoops to hold down his 9th
place qualifying position with a 9th place finish in finals!
