We caught up with Sergeant
Boyd Brown from Pawleys Island, SC. He is our first athlete of the week for 2014 and here is what he had to say:
Who influences you and why?
-God has a big influence on my life because he always provides for me and never let's you down.
What/Who inspired you to surf?
-My dad inspired me to surf. He surfed his entire life and wanted me to try it out. I have loved it since I first started and will continue to love and progress in surfing.
What are some of your proudest moments/accomplishments in 2013? Any big plans for 2014?
-I won the east coast surfing regional championships in the boys division and I made many other finals!
Have you had to overcome any challenges that made surfing an obstacle at times? (i.e. injuries, support)
-I have yet to have any obstacles or injuries, so hopefully it stays that way!
What is your daily routine and how do you get yourself prepared for a day of surfing?
-During the summer I get up early and go check the waves. If it's good I will surf most of the day with my friends. In the fall, winter and spring time I have school, so I get up super early before school and surf or surf after school.
Where would you like to see yourself in the next two years?
-I would love to travel to some of the best surf spots in the world and win a national title.
