Villopoto Dominates Hangtown

Coming in hot off of his third straight AMA Supercross Championship, Monster Energy's Ryan Villopoto wasted no time sticking it to the competition taking a strong win as the AMA Pro Motocross series began in Sacramento, California at Hangtown. In moto one, Villopoto got off to a great start just behind the #7 of James Stewart. Villopoto quickly overcame the powers that be, passing Stewart quickly and putting on a clinic, charging his way to an early lead setting a pace that the rest of the pack just could not match. Ryan kept his Monster Energy Kawasaki in the front winning by a quite a distance over Ryan Dungey and James Stewart who finished second and third. In the second moto, the same trio was out front and this time it looked as if a great battle would develop. However, a botched pass attempt by Dungey allowed Villopoto to quickly move in to the second position and the race for the lead was on. Villopoto put his head down and quickly worked his way around Stewart once again and motored on to take the moto two win and the first place overall spot as he took the checkers at Hangtown. In the first outdoor national including all of the heavy hitters in the 450 class, Villopoto continued his reign over 450 class competition with his first of what looks to be many of the 2013 season.
