Hey Emily, how’s 2018 rounding up for you?

The 2018 season has been fairly low key for me with a lot of trail riding really focusing on building my fitness and overall skill. That being said, I was excited make the leap into the Pro class for Dual Slalom, and having my first real pro race be Sea Otter. I was stoked to actually hold my own against the best with an 11th in qualifying! Along with that, I was lucky enough to make the trip to Snowshoe, WV for MTB Nats; ending with a 3rd overall even with a spill in my race run.

What do you have planned for the rest of the year?

Even though this season is typically about over, I get the chance to race into October with Lindsey Wilson College for the collegiate mountain bike season. With fun conference races just about every weekend, I’ll have the chance to go after another "Stars and Bars" jersey; but this time collegiate wise.

What are you most excited about next year?

I’m mostly excited about finally getting the chance to hit some Pro GRT races along with with continuing to advance my riding and skill. Anytime I spend on the bike is a great time and I cannot wait for another season pushing my limits!

Do you have any contest rituals or superstitions?

I get pretty nervous before a race so my little superstitions and pre race rituals help me control that. From wearing my “lucky” pair of socks and 100% goggles, to blasting some music on my pink Wicked Audio headphones I try to just clear my head and trust that I belong where I am and all the work I put in will show I’m my riding.

What do you think your favorite place you’ve traveled has been to?

I would have to say Whistler! I haven’t been many places yet, but I was lucky enough to go shred MTB heaven for an entire week about 2 years ago and I’ve been itching to go back ever since.

Any last thanks you or shout outs?

I have to give the biggest thank you to my parents and family! They have always sacrificed so much for me to be able to do what I love (even though my sport scares them) they are always my biggest fans. Along with my amazing sponsors who have stuck with me through the ups and downs of racing, those including Monster Army, Wicked Audio, 100%, Cycling Dev - Scott, Leatt, Maxxis Tires and of course all my coaches and friends who push me to be the best everyday.
