The US Mountain Bike National Championships bring out the most prestigious athletes in the country year after year, all with the same goal of claiming a national title and the opportunity to wear the sleeve for an entire year. The 2022 US MTB Nationals in Winterpark, CO were no exception, and with over twenty monster army athletes in attendance it’s safe to say the competition was fierce.

Our downhill pro women came out swinging with Emily Harris in 14^th, Ella Erickson on the podium in 4^th, and Kailey Skelton claiming the national title for the second year in a row! Sydney Phillips also had an impressive showing in the Women’s 17-18 enduro class where she found herself on the podium in 4^th.

For the pro men, the day would belong to Austin Dooley who found himself on the podium in 3^rd for the second year in a row. Austin has been advancing through the pro ranks with incredible stride as he continues working towards being one of the fastest athletes in the world.

Dante Silva also had a great showing with an impressive 5^th place finish, further proving he belongs at the top of the field. Following Dante in the results would be Dylan Maples in 6^th, who after a string of bad luck this season was finally able to showcase his speed.

Cole Suetos and Nikolas Nestoroff round out the Pro Men’s top 10 with 7^th and 9^th, respectively. Nik was on pace for the podium in Enduro the day prior, but an unfortunate mechanical on the final stage would shut down his goal of a top three finish. Racing alongside Nik in the enduro was JT fisher, who had a great finish in the 17-18 class with a 2^nd place podium finish.

Ryan Pinkerton came to Colorado motivated with his sights set on clenching the 17-18 national title. Finishing first in both seeding and finals, not only did Ryan with the title, but he also laid down the fourth fastest time of the day.

After breaking his finger earlier in the year at the Fort William world cup, Charlie Harrison was finally back on track looking fast as ever! Unfortunately, Charlie crashed in practice on the morning of seeding which resulted in a broken hip, effectively ending his season. Our full support and best wishes go out to Charlie as he recovers, we hope to see him back on the podium in the future!

Tyler Zenoni finishes off his weekend with a 19^th place, followed by Andrew Driscoll in 20^th, Caden Gray in 21^st, Steven Walton in 31^st, and Sam Toohey rounds out the field in 41^st.

We had a huge showing from our young up and comers in the 14 & under and 15-16 divisions. Liam Sexson out of Tijeras, NM slots into 6^th place in the 14 & under division.

In the 15-16 division, Etan Brevard laid down a stellar run to finish on the podium in second, followed by Lucas Dedora in 8^th, Mason Kroepel in 13^th, and Carter Gourley in 22^nd.

That’s a wrap on a fantastic week of racing in Winterpark, CO for the 2022 MTB National Championships! With twenty-two athletes in attendance, six podium finishes, and two national titles, it’s safe to say the Monster Army crew proudly left their mark at Nationals.
