Monster Army

On the frontlines: NW CUP #1

We made the trip out to the Laguna Seca Raceway in Monterey, CA for the 2022 Sea Otter Classic to see what our Mountain Bike crew is up to. We found 70,000 people in attendance and over fifteen of our top Monster Army athletes in competition ranging from Amateur all the way to the pro podium

Sam Toohey uses all available space on track while floating mere inches away from disaster on the way to a top fifteen finish in the Junior Men’s Division.

Ella Erickson made the trip over from Idaho to compete against some of the fastest ladies on the continent, landing herself a 4th place finish in Elite Women.

Kailey Skelton, the current US National Champion, wears her sleeve proudly as she corners into the finish arena to take the win in Elite Women.

Head up and eyes forward, Steven Walton rounds out one of the last corners on track as he heads towards a 7th place finish in Elite Men.

Another women’s national champion in the Monster Army program is Mckenna Merten, sporting her Irish national champ sleeve as she rides to a 6th place finish. All three of our pro women athletes in attendance found themselves in the top 10 on race day.

Austin Dooley put on a stellar performance this weekend slotting himself into a 4th place podium finish among a highly accredited pro field. Next stop for the up and comer, Fort Bill world cup in Scotland.

Nikolas Nestoroff shows us what consistency looks like, another top 10 finish for him in the slick PNW conditions.

After being the fastest junior in seeding on Saturday, all eyes were on Ryan Pinkerton going into Sunday’s finals. Dancing through the trees and over the roots, it’s safe to say that Ryan has found his confidence within his new program. A 2nd place finish for him on Sunday shows that his speed on Saturday was no coincidence.

Nathan Kitchen finishes out the racing with a hard-fought 6th place in Junior Men. Being only his first year in the class, we have a feeling we will be seeing him at the top in no time.

That’s a wrap here in Port Angeles! Congrats to all our Monster Army MTB Athletes on a job well done, we look forward to checking in with you at the next race.
