Monster Army

Race Report: Tamarack Pro GRT

Racing is back!

Welcome to Tamarack Resort over in Idaho. The views are stellar and the track is high speed!

Dean Lindsey has been having a stellar year, winning the Windrock National in Tennessee for the 0-16 age category. He would take down Top Qualifying efforts in the JR Expert class (0-18), but come Sunday, he would have to settle for 5th.

Ella Erickson must have been excited to have a national in her home state, but it wasn’t meant to be. A crash on Sunday would leave her wanting more, finishing in 9th position in the Pro Women’s category.

Steve Walton getting ready for the day in the KHS pits.

Ryan Pinkerton times his compressions between the big rock slabs on course. Ryan would finish 1 second out of the top 5 on the same second as 3 other people. Tight times, Ryan had to settle for 8th.

Dixie Owens got out on track for some practice, but had to pull out after a crash in the upper rock garden left her knee swollen.

Emily Harris squares up the chute in the loose Idaho dust. Emily would finish 12th on finals day.

McKenna Merten is bound for Fort Lewis College in the fall. She’s been getting faster each race and finished only 15 seconds off the win in the Pro Ladies’ division.

Austin Dooley would bump up from his 2nd seeding spot on Saturday to take the win on Sunday in the Junior Expert Men’s category.

Ski-racer Mazie Hayden started training for bikes earlier than previous years, and it showed. Less than 2 seconds off the win, Mazie would settle for 3rd. She has the pace!

Nik Nestoroff eagerly anticipates his race run after sitting around with an irregular no-practice Sunday morning rule.

Cole Suetos would be the first Monster Army racer down the hill for the pro men. Cole would have a clean run to put himself into 9th overall. Top ten is always a good result for a first year pro!

Steve Walton was the 6th to last rider down the hill, and he would storm into the hot seat with the fastest time and 5 riders to go.

Charlie Harrison was the 2nd to last rider down the hill. He absolutely stomped his run to go 6 seconds faster than Steve Walton, the man with the time to beat. Now Charlie would wait eagerly as good friend, Nik Nestoroff was on course as the final rider.

Nik Qualified 1st on Saturday, and was hoping to back that up. Nik finished .05 seconds back from Steve Walton, and with another rider .04 ahead of Nik, he would have to settle for 4th place.

The Junior Expert Podium with Austin Dooley taking the win and Dean Lindsey in 5th.
