Monster Army congratulates  Justin Dowell and Jeremy Malott on being named to the 2019 USA Cycling team. Both athletes join the team in hopes of being selected to represent Team USA at the 2019 World Championships and then on to the 2020 Olympic team. 

We caught up with Justin and Jeremy to hear what they had to say about the whole thing. 

Monster Army: What does it mean to you to ride for Team USA?

Justin: It's an unbelievable feeling. The USA produces the most and best talent in bmx and to be part of such a small group is amazing.

Jeremy: It means the world to me to be one of the riders to represent the best country on Earth! 

Monster Army: How did you get on to the team?

Justin: I originally got on the team from getting 8th at the UCI World Championship in 2017. Then in 2018 at the same contest [UCI World Championships] I managed to win it so it renewed my contract.

Jeremy: I got selected to be on the team by placing in the Top 10 at the UCI BMX World Championships.

Monster Army: What are you goals for 2019/2020?

Justin: My main goal is to stay healthy, but to also get better results. I would like to qualify for the Olympics!

Jeremy: My goals are to stay healthy and to finish in the Top 5 of the overall ranking. 

Monster Army: As potential Olympians, what does it mean to represent your country on that large of a scale?

Justin: It's crazy to think about, I grew up watching the Olympics and to potentially go is a dream come true. Bmx is one if the newest sports added too so it would also be exciting to be part of the first group of riders going ever.

Jeremy: It is such a surreal feeling, even just being a part of the program now, but to think I'm a possible Olympian...it is amazing that I get to support USA and make everyone proud.
