AOTW Andrew Crimmins takes Australian Junior National Championship

Monster Army Major Andrew Crimmins recently took 1st place at the National Championships in Australia in Juniors. We got to talk with Andrew about is racing career and this is what he had to say:

Who influences you and why?

-I would have to say the Aussie guys out there racing World Cups influence me. I have known most of these guys for a few years now and watch all the races on the net.

What/ Who inspired you to ride?

I started riding downhill after my older brother started to race club rounds in Canberra. So you could say he really was my inspiration to start riding downhill.

What are your proudest moments/ accomplishments in 2013/2014?

-Nationals were great this year, I stepped up to U 19's Juniors and won two of three series rounds. I also just took first place at the National Championships in Juniors.

Have you had to overcome any challenges that made riding an obstacle at times? (ie. Injuries, support, etc)

-I try not to beat myself up too bad and have had a pretty good run so far. My parents have always given me heaps of support whether it be shuttles or a lift to a race 10 hours away.

What part of your racing are you looking to improve upon most this season?

-I am really happy with my preparation for the World Cup season, trying to get my fitness up there and racing heaps. I am focusing on putting down some clean consistent race runs. Riding World Cup tracks will really improve my riding.

What is your daily routine and how do you prepare yourself for a day of riding?

-Most weekdays I work as an apprentice carpenter. I have a great boss who gives me time off to train and race. When I'm racing I usually try and chill as much as possible, do a couple of practice runs and then get into the zone just before race.

When I'm not racing you can find me?

-Out on the Moto track.

Where would you like to see yourself in the next few years?

-Defiantly up the ranks on the World Cup circuit.

Who would you like to thank?

-Monster Army, Kona bikes, FoxMTB, 100%, SRAM, Thredbo MTB and my family for their continued support.
