Battle Ready: Triples

2024 BMX Triple Challenge #1

January 6th – Anaheim, CA

The 2024 BMX Freestyle season officially kicked off with the first event of the BMX Triple Challenge Series. Formed 8 years ago, the triple challenge is widely regarded as the premier stage for professional athletes to showcase their talent and make a name for themselves. Up-and-coming athletes are also provided the opportunity to attend the event, participate in open qualifying, and see if they have what it takes to make the cut.

Monster Army’s own Colin Akerman was in attendance to make his pro debut after winning the 2023 USABMX Amateur National Championship last year. Hailing from Bayville, New Jersey, Akerman made quite the trek for his first pro contest. Surrounded by all the pro’s he has looked up to and faced with some of the biggest dirt jumps in competition, Akerman handled himself with poise and confidence. When the dust settled, Colin was just short of a top 16 qualifier, ending his first pro weekend earlier than he had hoped for. With the first pro event now under his belt, we’re excited to see what Colin has in store for round two in Glendale!

With Kaden Stone under the weather, all eyes point to Monster Army’s Brady Baker. Now recognized as an X-Games gold medalist, Baker continues to prove what it means to be a champion. Coming into 2024, Baker has two things on his mind: Big tricks and gold medals! Firing off the new year with a bang, Brady claims an impressive 2nd place finish between Monster Energy’s Mike Varga and new recruit Ryan Williams.

“After a crazy 2023 season winning the Nashville BMX triple challenge and wrapping up X-Games with a gold medal I wanted to show that these weren’t fluke results. Once my broken collarbone healed, I got straight to work and made sure I was feeling dialed going into the 2024 BMX Triple Challenge. To end up in second at the first of the year sharing the podium with Mike Varga and Ryan Williams meant a ton to me showing that my hard work is paying off. Consistent results and execution is always the goal for me. Can’t wait for the next stop in Glendale!” -Brady Baker

Round two of the BMX Triple Challenge series takes place at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, AZ from February 9th to 10th. We’re excited to see our Monster Army BMX team back in action and on the podium!
