After Excelent Soldiers Big Air competition in
Czech Republic. I hopped on the flight over to Iceland!
We
landed in the southern section of Iceland and had it rented a car to drive to
the northern section. We had a beautiful drive up the coast of Iceland to the
northern section and arrived in our town of destination Akuryeri.
The first day we got to the town we just had a
chill down day and check out the scenery! The second day we went on a tour of
the northern section of the country. The tour us took us to five different
resorts to go skiing in one day and check out some little towns! Iceland
is an amazing and beautiful country! It consist of very dramatic terrain with a
huge variety of foods. One of the few places I have ever been where all the food
I tried was excellent.
The
third day we had practice and skied the first section of the day on the course
and the second half of the day we went cat skiing! The weather wasn't its best,
but we made the most of it. The terrain in Iceland has some very steep
mountains that funnel straight to the ocean!
The
following day we had the competition. The weather was quite challenging and had
40-80 mph gust with very flat like conditions. Conditions caused for them to do
the first three rails of the course and only one jump. The other two jumps were
closed due to safety.
It
was a great experience to ski the mountain and compete out here in Iceland! As
well as getting to experience the culture and nightlife of
Iceland.
Now that the competition has finished the next stop is
European open in Laxx, Switzerland! Will keep you posted on how I do!
