Ski Major Robby Franco - 3rd place going into FIS World Championship Finals tomorrow

Ski Major Robby Franco recently traveled abroad to compete in some of the most prestigious international slopestyle events that the sport has to offer. He is currently at the FIS Worldcup Championships where he just finished qualifiers today sitting in 3rd place overall and winning his heat division. Tomorrow he heads into the finals and is looking for the podium. We caught up with Robby and he took us through his travels and his runs at the previouse events. Here is what he had to say:

"I flew from Denver, Co to Geneva, Switzerland leaving on the 9th and arriving on the 10th. We took a shuttle from the airport in Geneva up to the mountain in Val Thorens! We rested up and tried to get used to the time change that day. The next day we were supposed to have our practice, but due to weather we were only allowed to hit rails for a few hours on the first day. The following day was qualifiers. They gave us five runs for training and then it was go time. I ended up qualifying 6th in my heat. It was a three jump line and two rail options after. My run consisted of switch left double 900 Japan, to left dub 1080 blunt, to right dub 1260 mute. Then switch on to 270, to switch off the flat rail, then switch right 360 jumping over the rail because of to much speed. I qualified 6th with that run and 14th overall going into semis. In semis I did the same run and overshot the last rail in my first run. Second run on the third jump I came up short causing me to ruin my run. I was disappointed in how I did on semis, but managed to get out of the event in good health and in one piece. The wind was very tricky and hard to judge speed that day with a constant change in direction and in intensity. My friends Oscar Wester (1st) Fabian Bosch (2nd) and Jesper Tjader (3rd) ended up taking the SFR Tour podium.

Now on to FIS WORLD Championships.

After traveling for 22 hours from Val Thorens, France, Kreischberg, then Austria, we made it here from a handful of trains and buses. We have practice on the 17, 18, then qualifiers on the 20th, and finals on the 21st. I hope to do well here! The course is still being built (today is the 16th) and hopefully it will be a decent Slopestyle course because they are breaking down the previous Aerial jumps on that run."

Good Luck tomorrow Robby!
