Gage Schehr is Athlete of the Week

Author: Tim Remick

Whats up, Gage! How has your season been so far??

My season so far has been up and down. The year started off pretty solid racing the mammoth q and the then the loretta q in my first A races. I then headed to my first AX race in Kansas city to earn my supercross points and unfortunaltly got injured so that took me out of the spring nationals.

You won the Area qualifier for Loretta’s as well as the Mammoth qualifier, which are both very different tracks. How will you prepare for both, separately?

As far as it goes moving forward I will be training as if Im doing outdoors just in case an opportunity comes up I will be ready.. A lot of 30+2’s and working on my overall enderance in the gym.

You’ve been gathering up points in Arenacross to make it to supercross.  How has that effort been going for you, this year?

Honestly I have a better appreciation for the AX guys. It’s a whole different type of racing with many more factors than just yourself as a rider. Tighter lanes and shorter tracks have been a challenge but I've definitely learned a lot and am looking forward to being done after Vegas. Denver didn’t go as planned. Unfortunately, I was one lap away from getting my last point and my rear brake went out.

Any good lucks from the industry for any rides?

I've had a few people talk to me about next year but for now I will just focus on Loretta’s and train as if I’m doing Outdoors and if an opportunity arise’s to ride outdoors Id love to do that.

Right on!  So finishing out your amateur career with Loretta’s and Mammoth MX, You excited to be moving up to the big show?

I’m really excited for the next chapter and what the future holds.

Awesome! Thanks, Gage! Any last mentions/shoutout’s before you go?
