Another Race Report is here! Here's the MTB latest:

We are back in Idaho for the 2nd race of the Northwest Cup series at Silver Mountain.

Steve Walton made the trip with the KHS Factory team to get in some more racing. Steve would have an excellent seeding run and go fastest on Saturday.

Matt Sterling put on quite the show all weekend. He had the fastest time in seeding not only for the Junior Expert category, but also putting 3 seconds in the pro men’s field. This is Matt’s first race of the year, and it’s clear to see he is going fast!

Southern California’s Nik Nestoroff went quick in seeding - only .7 off of teammate Walton, for 3rd place on Saturday.

Junior racer, Ryan Pinkerton shows some style on track, but would unfortunately pull out of the race after crashing avoiding a course marshal.

Idaho local, Ella Erickson, threw down the fastest seeding time for the pro women by .7 seconds. With 3rd place also just 2 seconds back, the scene was set for a dramatic finals day come Sunday.

Austin Dooley also made the trip up from California to battle in the Junior Expert category. Dooley went 3rd in seeding.

Teammates, Steve Walton & Nik Nestoroff unwind after a long day on the hill with a stroll through Silver Mountain’s village.

Finals day! In the Pro women’s category, Ella Erickson knew she had to thrown down a quick time with the other girls nipping at her heals. She absolutely backed up her 1st place qualifying run with a commanding 3 second victory over the other ladies!

Austin Dooley went 3rd to last for the Junior expert racers. He would take the fastest time with only 2 riders left to dethrone him.

Dante Silva was the next rider down the hill after Dooley. Ripping across the line, he ousted Dooley by .64 seconds. As Dante took over the hot seat, all eyes were focused up the hill on the finals JR rider of the day.

Matt Sterling has been waiting eagerly to get back to racing, and he showed up prepared. Besting his qualifying time and every other rider on the hill (pros included), Matt took a commanding win, 1.6 seconds ahead of Dante Silva. It seems Matt has figured out his new Giant bike this year and is ready for the bigger competitions!

Nik Nestoroff went fastest in the pro men’s category with 2 riders left to go. He sat in anticipation after throwing down a smooth run in the loose Idaho dirt.

Walton was the last rider down the hill as Nik still held onto the fastest time for the pro men. Walton would run about the same time as he did on Saturday, but it was not enough for the win. He would end up in 3rd, swapping places with Nestoroff form the day before.

Ella Erickson on top for the pro women.

Junior expert podium with Matt Sterling on top, Dante Silva in 2nd, and Austin Dooley in 3rd. The top 4 Juniors all went faster than the pros as well.

Nik Nestoroff on top and Steve Walton in 3rd for the pro men’s category.

That’s all for the Northwest cup round #2! National Championships has been cancelled along with a few national rounds on the east coast. We are not sure what’s next, but stay tuned and if you’re inspired, go ride your bike!
