Monster Army's Conner Field Takes 3rd At USA BMX Nationals

Monster Energy’s Connor Fields dominanted at 2013 USA BMX National series first stop after a three-month off-season, the 2013 USA BMX National series kicked off at Black Mountain BMX in Phoenix, AZ last weekend. Elite BMX racers are usually off about six weeks— from thanksgiving to the first week of January— and the 66 Elite men and women who came to Phoenix were both well-chilled from the extra downtime, and ready to race anything that moved, if they had to go one more day without gating-up for a money-moto.

Connor is arguably the top American BMX Racer: The current National Champion, 2012 Olympian, and major crowd favorite, wherever he goes. In Phoenix, Connor was logging a second during first round, followed by two firsts in qualifying. The new-bike-blues did not seem to be much of a factor for DR, as his blue PK Ripper kept him solidly in mix, with a third and two second places in the moto's.

For 2013, USA BMX returns to running the Pro/Elite Main Events three times. Whoever has the low points after three trips wins the overall. Connor turned in a 2-3-2 to capture the second-place podium spot on day one.

With the season-opener cobwebs shaken out, The Con-Man aced all three trips in the qualifying moto's. Conner made it through quarters and semis, and it was main time before we knew it. Connor would go 4- 3-3 to catch the third podium spot. Connor will be in Oldsmar, Florida next week for the 2013 USA BMX Gator Nationals, and the 2013 UCI North American Continental Championships.
