Recon Tour Round 1 Ski Report from Park City Mountain Resort
The Recon Tour presented by Monster Army kicked off Saturday January 12th at Park City Mountain Resort in Utah. The ski and snowboard slopestyle contest drew over 130 total entrees from Utah, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and as far back as the Northeast who all made it out for the inaugural Winter Recon Tour series.
The top 3 from every division over the two days were rewarded with cash and prizes, including hand-crafted Winter Recon Tour medals, a $3,000 cash purse for the Open Men and Open Female divisions, Monster Army Paid to Podium in select divisions for Monster Army members and prizes from tour partners Mophie, Freestyle, Coal, Fuel, EVS, Yea.Nice, Pant Saggin Dezignz Surface Sun Systems, Transworld Snowboarding and Freeskier magazine.
The Recon Tour is a championship series that is heading to Mountain High on January 26-27 and concludes at Mammoth Mountain on March 2nd. Points from each round are tallied for an overall winner in each division. The first two stops are open to everyone. The final round at Mammoth Mountain will be an invitational for top finishers from the first two stops worth 1.5X points towards the overall. Overall winners in each division will receive a GoPro camera and overall winners in the open class will be rewarded with an additional $2,500 in prize money at Mammoth.
“It’s such a great feeling to bring the Recon Tour to snowboard and ski,” said Scott Tilton, CEO of Hookit, which runs the Recon Tour. “We set out last summer to support the athletes by focusing the Recon Tour on sports where up and coming athletes need every opportunity for exposure and recognition to prove themselves. The feedback from the athletes, tour partners and venues is proving we’re doing just that.”
Special thanks to the crew at Park City Mountain Resort, the coaches and media who made the first stop a huge success. Below is a recap and final results from the first round in each division.
