We got a chance to talk to Ross Lanier who will be competing in the upcoming Recon Tour this weekend! We caught up with Ross and this is what he had to say:

For those who haven't heard your name yet, who are you and how did you get involved in BMX?
Im Ross Lanier, bikes have been In my life since I was a youngster, and when I got a little older I moved to the high desert and I met a group of kids that enjoyed racing bmx but I was more like a spectator and maintenance boy on the track they had at my buddy's house at this point. Then a day came where my buddy's decided to start doing tricks and I immediately found an interest In bmx and started riding some jumps..

Take us through the 2012 season – what were your goals and how did you do?
2012 has been an amazing year so far! I've meet so many good people and enjoy riding every chance I get! And the traveling has been a blast as well. My goals would have to be keep riding and enjoying the life we have and to progress and have fun with it!

What are your plans for the remainder of the season and 2013?
I plan on making a few edits, traveling a lot more, entering pro contests, and having fun!

You recently placed 3rd in the Recon Tour Round 1. How did you feel about that and what are your plans for the second round coming up in a few weeks?
The recon tour stop 1 In Escondido was a lot of fun, and I'm surprised I took 3rd over all, there were some really rad riders there that did so good! The second stop at aura skate park should be fun, I'm stoked to get to ride with the homies..

Who are your biggest influences?
I have so many influences In my life but my number one would have to be my mom. She has done so much for me In my life, not only for bmx but for everything I've done or tried! Shes the best role model and the biggest inspiration In my life!

What other sports do you do when you're not riding?
I honestly love so many sports but mainly I love to ride my dirt bike, play some basketball and swim :)

If you could invent a flavor of Monster, what would it be?
A radical raspberry flavor with a little taste of kiwi!
