Grand Prix at Mammoth Recap

Author: Seth Hill

When it comes to the Monster Army at contests, rarely are we lacking in attendance. The Grand Prix at Mammoth was no different story. With a total of 10 riders competing in most of the fields we had great presence and showed up ready to compete!

Our first athlete of the week to make finals was Jason Wolle, coming off a great showing in Switzerland Jason’s name is starting to makes it place as a standard for finals.

“Grand Prix was super fun. The pipe was awesome on qualifying day and I squeaked into finals on my last run. I was able to throw down the same run I did in Laax and make two finals in a row. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to put down a clean run in finals but I still had a great time and ended up in 10th place. I feel really good about making two finals in a row and it feels like my snowboarding is moving to the next level. Everyone killed it in that contest and I can’t wait for the next one!” - Jason Wolle

Competing along side Jason in the halfpipe was Lucas Foster. Coming off an exciting opportunity to compete at the X Games, Lucas has some big tricks but was unable to put down his full run and make finals. Also, getting the shot to ride against some of the worlds best was Colorado boy Max Williams, excited and amped to compete at this level he came out riding hard but had a really hard crash that kept him out of finals. Glad to hear he came out in hurt!

For skiers the pipe field was stacked and amongst that stacked field was Connor LaddDylan LaddHunter CareyBirk IrvingJaxin HoerterAbigail Hansen, and Hanna Faulhaber. Of all of these great riders, Birk, Jaxin, and Hanna all made finals and put down some incredible runs! Standing atop our crew of finalist was Birk Irving who put down and incredible run with his signature 1440 and double cork 720 but ended up in 4th for some strange reason.

As always we applaud the hard work, great riding and can’t wait to see what else they all deliver the rest of the season!
